dpkg (Package Manager for Debian):

dpkg is a tool to install, build, remove and  manage  Debian packages.  To use, become root or use sudo.

To list installed packages:

dpkg --get-selections

To list installed packages with version:

dpkg -l

dpkg --list

dpkg-query -l

dpkg-query --list

To install a .deb file:

dpkg -i package_name.deb

To uninstall a .deb file:

dpkg -r package_name

To find version of a package installed:

dpkg -l package_name
